Parcel Post Services—Your Delivery Options Through Regional Services

Parcel Post is a regional method of shipping as opposed to parcel delivery services which can be based in any country around the world. Although regional parcel services are often restricted in where they can go or what weight they can support, they may have more delivery options available than parcel delivery services. Here are some examples of what parcel post offers you.

  • Shipping to every address in the United States, its minor outlying islands and its military bases.
  • Saturday deliveries at no extra cost.
  • Larger weights and sizes than regular mail—You can ship packages up to 70 lbs and 130 combined inches.
  • Residential deliveries at no extra cost.
  • Rates based on a calculation of weight, distance and shape.
  • Proof of Mailing—you can request a special document proving you mailed the item.
  • Protection in Transit—If your item is damaged during shipping, the post delivery company will pay to replace it. This costs extra and you may be required to provide proof of purchase.
  • Delivery Confirmation—If you want to know that your package got to its destination, you can purchase a delivery confirmation number that will tell you when it got there.
  • Return Receipt for Merchandise—For an extra fee, the postal service will include a pre-paid return receipt for merchandise.
  • Signature Confirmation—Just because your package arrived doesn’t mean anyone got it. A signature confirmation eliminates the worry by requiring the recipient to sign for the package.
  • Collect on Delivery—If the recipient will be paying for the shipment costs you can request that the parcel delivery man request payment from the recipient on delivery.

Remember, while parcel delivery post is limited in some aspects, for small fees you can make it better than parcel delivery.
